Translation of the Quran is one of the most
important factors. By putting the historical fact regarding the translation of
Quran aside but in the early Muslim community took stand for the translation of
the Quran from Arabic Text but there were the mixed feelings and may have contradictory
feelings. Generally, the Muslim attitude was so on that day. But yes, the
translation of the Quran may be the exegetical effort when viewed as a natural
part. The idea of the translation of the Quran was not a public disagreement.
It has the emotional motives when it comes to translation of the Quran and is
always suspicious when it comes to another language other than the Arabic
language.
It’s so obvious during those circumstances the translation of Quran
when there were the huge number of non-Arabic people who were embracing Islam
and the translation of Quran giving a
new way or direction to the contents of revelation- So, if we see the ‘’New
Testament”- and all the elements like unforeseeable, undesirable and
developments in limitations with the Islamic boundaries. (Briefly, its user
through a survey the attitudes of Muslims regarding the permissibility of the translation of Quranic text to
non-Arabic tongues like M.Ayoub He translates the meaning of Quran in
traditional and Modern Debates, in Afkar Inquiry, Vol.3, No.5 (Ramadan 1406/May
1986), pp.349.
Muhammad
Marmaduke William Pickthall was the
person who was embarrassing Islam while rendering the Quran in English. Known to the meaning of the Glorious Quran.
He
keeps it close to the original one and elegant too. And it was the translation
that was highly preferred and was widely used.
They were providing explanatory notes and information regarding it. This was useful for the new reader of the
Quran.
Abdullah
Yousef Ali did the translation and commentary in Lahore (1934). He was having
the position of a civil servant by vocation. It was one of the popular
translation that was the achievement in that field. He was the scholar in the
Classical Muslim tradition. His copious notes included
on Hell and Heaven, Angels, jinn, and
polygamy and used the pseudo-rationalist spirit of his times. Like while
working of S Ahmad and S.Ameer Ali.
He
focuses more on the things that are spiritual and distorts the view of the
World for Quran. Yousef Ali had strong command on the English language as per
at that time very few had that command. His command was seen in his translations. He paraphrases the things instead of
literal translation, and its sense was
same as the original.
Abdul
Majid Daryabadi’s one more translator of Quran in English in Lahore (1941-57)
is, having the traditional Muslim point of view.
Earlier
attempt was by Pickthall he comes up with
the faithful rendering and useful notes related to the historical, geographical
and eschatological issues while discussing the other religion. These notes were
clear and complete to clear all the doubts of western people who are the
reader. It also has the knowledge and information related to the Surah’s of the
Quran, but some of the notes still need
to be updated.
Sayed
Abdul A’ la Mawdud’i’s magnum opus also come up with the English version of The
Meaning and translation of Quran
(Lahore, 1967). If we see, the Urdu
Tafhil-Ul-Quran is the rendering of Quranic Verses, and it helped a lot and was marked very successful related to the
original one.
As
Mawdudi was the great thinker, he always
enjoyed the mystery while seeing the both classical and the modern scholarship.
All the work he did was helping to develop an understanding of the Quran that was
the source of guidance. While he was working on that but and keeping Verses
aside he was time by time he was the relating Universal message of Quran and
its specific problems. He was showing the complete way of life in Islam through
his logical arguments, generous sensibility, judicious usage of a practical way of solving the problems and for
the whole Mankind it was a right path. As, Muhammad Akbar did nothing his work
was useless, poor, uninspiring Moreover, Worthless. So, that work wholly solely
need the new English translation of the Quran, and
that was totally under the progress of the organization named ‘’Islamic
Foundation’’, Leicester.
